Terrible Anxiety, Daily Distractions: Fight those Depression Blues!

How To Stay Strong Against Depression Signs

It’s a sad day when you’re feeling down and out. No one wants to be depressed on a normal day, let alone when it’s cold outside or they have an important meeting coming up. Depression can feel like living in a black hole with no light at the end of the tunnel…but there is hope!

First, try to make sure you get enough sleep. Sleep is important for your body and mind to recover from the daily stress of life. If you’re not getting a good amount of rest, try taking some time before bed (30-60 minutes) to de-stress with meditation, og kush or yoga breathing exercises .

Next, fight that anxiety by staying active! Exercise will boost your endorphins and release those feel good chemicals in your brain while also helping balance out any negative hormones like cortisol which can lead to depression and weight gain if left unchecked. That’s why it’s so important for us women – we tend to store more fat around our waists causing an increased risk of heart disease…which no one wants!

Eat right! This may sound obvious, but there are some foods that fight depression better than others. Foods like lean meats and veggies will give you the nutrients your body needs to function properly while also giving your brain enough of certain substances it may be lacking in when feeling blue. Don’t forget about fiber! It’s important for balancing blood sugar levels which can increase energy, balance mood swings, reduce stress on the heart…the list goes on!

Lastly – don’t underestimate what a good night out with friends can do for your mental health. Socializing is important because we all need someone who has our best interest at heart rooting for us even when things get tough. Plus laughter really is the best medicine so maybe ask if anyone wants to catch an afternoon movie or head over to the comedy club for a good time.
